Knitting by the Mile

I noticed that several knitters on Ravelry have a widget that keeps track of their knitting yardage.  Soooo, being unable to resist, I went on knitmeter.com , entered all the projects I have completed in 2012 and it totalled up to 10, 418 yards.  That is almost six miles!  9.5 kilometres!  If I weren't so busy knitting I could take a strand of yarn on a two hour walk.  I could climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower and back down again 16 times.  I'm exhausted just thinking about it so I'd better sit down...  and knit

The Blues

I seem to have been on a bit of a blue kick with my knitting lately ~~

Woodland Spring Shawl (for a dear friend who is going through a very tough time)

Garden cardi (which I have worn practically every day since finishing)

Snowbirds

I live quite near to a military base and every year at this time the Snowbirds come for two weeks of practice.  Although I feel our military dollars could be spent on better things I can't help but admire the beauty of the planes and the skill of the pilots.  These photos were taken from my backyard.

Sunday Stroll

We found a new (to us) park yesterday.  It was only a 5 km walk but there were 80 steps to go down and then back up again so we felt like we got a bit of exercise.  We were all alone on the beach, it was lovely.

I had some fun with Picasa, putting together this little slide show.

Nest Beautiful

I thought the birds could use a little help decorating their nests this spring so I pulled apart some bits of yarn for them.  I'll be tickled pink if, when we pull down the bird houses in the fall, we find they made use of my birdie stash!
